Anxiety
Like sadness, worry is a feeling that all people experience from time to time. Feelings of anxiousness can be caused by an upcoming presentation at work, an exam or speech at school, being in an unfamiliar environment or meeting new people. However, anxiety disorders are characterized by an inability to control one’s worry. This problem can severely impact one’s life, making it difficult to perform day-to-day activities.
There are a number of different anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders share several common symptoms, such as feelings of restlessness or edginess, trouble sleeping, muscle tension in the neck and shoulders, and difficulty concentrating. If your worry affects your ability to form or maintain healthy relationships, engage in social activities such as school or work, or otherwise impairs your life, it is highly recommended that you consider scheduling a consultation with one of our providers.
